Full Job Description

To perform purification development and validation studies for antibodies and other recombinant proteins being manufactured by Lonza Biologics. To provide flexible laboratory-based practical expertise within the Purification Development department

Qualification Requirements
Must have completed 2 years of undergraduate study in one of the following degree areas:

  • Biochemical/Chem Engineering
  • Biology/Biological Science
  • Biochemistry
  • Biotechnology
  • Genetics

Salary - £23,810 per annum

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • To perform laboratory experiments, with guidance, to test the suitability and effectiveness of various chromatographic, filtration and other procedures for the purification of proteins.
  • With guidance, interpret the data from development studies obtained and to plan the next set of experiments where required.
  • To ensure that experimental details, raw data and results are recorded as appropriate
  • To perform validation studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of purification processes.
  • To contribute to the efficient running of the laboratories.

With guidance contribute to the preparation of development reports Ensure that equipment and materials required for a study are used as defined by GMP and regulatory requirements

Candidate Requirements

Skills/Personal Qualities

  • A working knowledge of the theory of protein purification and protein structure. A working knowledge of chromatography and tangential flow filtration studies.
  • Knowledge of GLP/GMP.
  • Strong practical laboratory skills and an enthusiasm for science.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a project team.
