Our client is a well-established organisation based in the Midlands area and is seeking to recruit a Polymer/Materials Chemist to join their Research & Development department.
The ideal candidate will hold, as a minimum, a BSc in a chemistry-related discipline, with a preference for candidates with a background in organic or polymer chemistry.
BSc, MSc, or PhD in a polymer-related field would be considered advantageous.
Candidates should ideally have 3–5 years of industrial experience in areas such as inks, coatings, plastics, or adhesives, along with a proven track record in product development.
The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of polymer coatings and inks, and experience using analytical and testing equipment such as IR spectroscopy, UV light testing, and related instrumentation. In addition, the candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to develop organic materials from basic ingredients through appropriate formulation, pouring, curing processes, and into full-scale production, using suitable methodologies and previous experience.
Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to plan and manage both short- and long-term development programmes.
The successful applicant will possess strong communication skills and the ability to work independently using their own initiative, as well as collaboratively within a team working toward common objectives. The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, along with strong organisational and planning skills, will be essential.
