UT/NDT Technician

Do you hold a qualification in ultrasonic inspection of forgings and wrought products?

Key Details

Work hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Hillsborough, Sheffield

Job type: Permanent, Full-time

Main Purpose of the Role

You will be responsible for all aspects of ultrasonic inspection of machined forgings and wrought products, marking identity numbers and packing goods for despatch when required. Where suitable qualifications are held, additional responsibility for dye-penetrant, magnetic particle, visual and dimensional inspections as well as Positive Material Identification (PMI). Reporting to the NDT Manager,

Key Accountabilities

  • Hands-on Ultrasonic inspection.
  • Hands-on dye-penetrant inspection.
  • Hands-on magnetic particle inspection.
  • Hands-on visual inspection.
  • Hands-on dimensional inspection.
  • Generation of Inspection certification.
  • Generation of part specific technique sheets.
  • Packing of goods for despatch, if required.
  • Marking of products prior to despatch, if required.
  • Positive Material Identification (PMI).

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in a similar work environment.
  • Excellent working knowledge of technical documentation.
  • Good IT Skills.
  • Flexible, pro-active and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • NAS 410 / EN 4179 Level 2 Ultrasonic Qualification.
  • PCN (EN 9712) Level 2 Ultrasonic Qualification (Forgings & Wrought Products).

Desirable:

  • NAS 410 / EN 4179 or PCN Level 2 Magnetic Particle Qualification.
  • NAS 410 / EN 4179 or PCN Level 2 Dye Penetrant Inspection Qualification.
  • PCN Level 2 Visual Inspection Qualification.
  • Experience/qualifications in Immersion Ultrasonic.
  • Forklift Truck License, overhead crane experience.
  • NAS 410 / EN 4179 documented on-the-job experience.
