Job Title: Radiopharmacy Technician

Grade: Band 5

Trust: East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust

Location: Mount Vernon Cancer Centre

Ward/Dept: Nuclear Medicine - Radiopharmacy

Hours: Full time - Up to 37.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Mon-Fri. No bank holiday working required. No weekend working.

Radiopharmacy shifts (7.5 hours) start at either:

05:15

06:15

07:15

08:15

Shifts are on a rota basis

Pay Rates - Day:£20.34

East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust are looking for a Technician to join their small, friendly Radiopharmacy team within the Nuclear Medicine Department at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre which is located on the Mount Vernon Hospital site. The licenced radiopharmacy (MHRA Manufacturers Specials Licence) manufactures radiopharmaceuticals for the Cancer Centre and for seven other hospitals in North West London, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. You will be involved in all aspects of the radiopharmacy service and must be flexible and adaptable as manufacture begins at 05:00am with team members working early shifts on a rota system.

Responsibilities of this job role

  • You should already have training and experience in pharmaceutical aseptic manufacture or radiopharmacy obtained either within a hospital or commercial setting. Further training in radiopharmaceutical practice will be provided.
  • There are strict requirements in relation to dress and hygiene whilst working in the radiopharmacy and you must be willing to adhere to these.
  • You will carry out the technical duties required for the provision of radiopharmaceuticals to the Trust and its customers, including the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals, radiopharmacy environmental monitoring and radiopharmaceutical quality control.

To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or Diploma in nuclear medicine or BSc in pharmaceutical science, life or physical sciences.
  • Eligible for registration with General Pharmaceutical Council or other professional organisation such as Register of Clinical Technologists (RCT).
  • Must be able to arrive on-site by 5am without reliance on public transport
