Development Chemist

  • Location: West Suffolk
  • Job Type: full-time, permanent

We are seeking an experienced Development Chemist to join our client’s Operations team, playing a crucial role in their production process and systems. This position involves close collaboration with the QC, R&D, and Production departments, ensuring the smooth running of the distillation room and compliance with quality control systems.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Perform distillations and undertake development projects to support the scale-up of research to production scale.
  • Liaise with R&D and QC to solve problems and troubleshoot.
  • Support R&D in the development of processes
  • Support the Director with the distillation room management.
  • Undertake documentation and maintenance.
  • Enter results into the ERP system and maintain the company’s record database.
  • Review and check technical documentation, policies, SOP’s, and WI’s.
  • Complete relevant paperwork and build good working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, auditors, suppliers, and clients to meet operational and R&D requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ industry experience.
  • Degree in Chemistry, preferably in Organic Chemistry, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience with distillation and small-scale fine chemical manufacture.
  • Good understanding of English.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Awareness of the hazards associated with potentially hazardous chemicals and materials.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques and hands on experience is beneficial.
