Full Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced multi-skilled welding and fabrication technician to join our refinery Maintenance Team.  We are looking for exceptional individuals to provide professional, efficient and competent welding support within our Maintenance Workshop and asset field areas.  The successful candidate will need to be experienced in all aspects of Fabrication and be able to operate in accordance with the site HSEQ standards.  Some of the main accountabilities are shown below:

Proficient in the following welding processes, MMA, TIG, MIG and FCAW and to become qualified to the ASME 1X welding procedure specification
On site measuring & design of pipework in a petro chemical environment
Boiler welding and working in confined spaces
Removal and Installation of pipework and equipment
Undertaking basic lifting and slinging
Pressure testing
 

**About You

The main responsibilities are to provide fabrication and welding support in both a workshop and field based environment in accordance with all technical, quality and HSE related standards. You should hold a recognised qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, QCF), or equivalent, in a Mechanical field and have successfully completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship with a speciality in welding. You should also have a sound understanding of operational safety management systems including permit to work.

You should have a thorough awareness of Engineering Quality Standards and management systems and you should also have a sound understanding of repair and manufacturing techniques in both workshops and plant environments within the Petro-chemical sector. You should have proficient IT skills, including MS Office, and have excellent communication skills. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience of multiskilling within other mechanical trades.
