Your new role
They are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Ecologist to join the team. You will support ecological surveys, data analysis, and the preparation of reports. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of projects aimed at promoting biodiversity and sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct ecological surveys, including habitat assessments and protected species surveys.
- Assist in the preparation of ecological reports and mitigation strategies.
- Provide ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
- Support senior ecologists in project management and client liaison.
- Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
- Participate in fieldwork, sometimes requiring travel and overnight stays.
What you'll need to succeed
- A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Membership or working towards membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
- Experience in conducting ecological surveys and report writing.
- Analysing and interpreting ecological data.
- Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using GIS and other relevant software is desirable.
- Valid driving license due to fieldwork - Desirable.
- CSCS card - Desirable.
