Street Scene Operatives

• Job Type: Temporary (6 weeks)
• Pay Rate: £12.73 per hr paye
• Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 7.00am - 15.00pm, Friday 7.00am - 14.00pm

Rotherham Council are looking for two Street Scene Operatives to join their team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial in maintaining the cleanliness and environmental standards across the borough. No DBS is required for this position.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Perform a variety of tasks including bin emptying, litter picking, and sweeping.
• Work as part of a team or independently to deliver high-quality environmental cleansing, horticultural, and grounds maintenance services.
• Operate both pedestrian and specialist grounds maintenance equipment.
• Carry out environmental cleansing tasks such as removing litter, weed growth, and handling waste materials including drug litter.
• Participate in winter salting duties, chemical control, and the upkeep of verges and green spaces.
• Assist in the maintenance of shrubs, sports pitches, and the erection/dismantling of sports posts.
• Operate, secure, and check powered tools, plant, and equipment, reporting any defects or maintenance issues.
• Ensure the security of vehicles, buildings, and resources, including carrying out vehicle checks.
• Report accidents, property damage, street defects, and assist in enviro-crime enforcement operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Valid full UK driving license.
• Physical fitness and ability to handle heavy items and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to work flexibly across different services as needed to support service delivery.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
