Assistant Accountant

12-Month Fixed Term Contract

Piccadilly, London – Hybrid Working

£35,000 – £45,000 per annum

We’re working with an innovative, international life sciences business going through an exciting period of development. As part of their expanding London based finance team, they’re looking for a motivated Assistant Accountant to support day-to-day accounting processes and assist with month end reporting across their UK and US operations.

This is a broad, hands-on role ideal for a part-qualified accountant or finance assistant looking to develop their technical skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll be supporting transactional finance, month end processes, VAT, and balance sheet reconciliations, playing a key role in ensuring accuracy and control as the business grows.

This will initially be a 12 month fixed term contract but has high likelihood to become permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process daily transactions across accounts payable, accounts receivable, employee expenses, and corporate credit cards.
  • Manage weekly supplier and employee payment runs.
  • Reconcile supplier accounts and onboard new suppliers in line with internal controls.
  • Assist with month end and year end close processes, ensuring accurate ledgers and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare daily bank reconciliations across group entities.
  • Support the preparation of VAT returns, ensuring accurate coding and compliance.
  • Provide information to auditors during interim and year end audits.
  • Collaborate with wider finance and operational teams to maintain strong processes and controls.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree educated with part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or fully AAT qualified
  • Previous experience in finance administration or transactional finance
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with finance systems (NetSuite desirable but not essential).
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a desire to learn and develop.
  • Interest in working within a life sciences, pharmaceutical, or international business environment.
  • Available immediately or on short notice
