The Role

The Associate Scientist will sit within a specialist team focused on target identification, running biological assays that contribute to understanding how novel compounds affect plant systems. Day-to-day, this involves generating and maintaining plant lines in vitro, conducting experiments across molecular biology workflows, and contributing to omics-based testing of candidate herbicides. You will record and communicate results clearly, manage multiple workstreams to deadline, and bring genuine curiosity to problem-solving and optimisation conversations. The Associate Scientist will also represent their team in cross-functional scientific discussions, collaborating with colleagues from a range of disciplines to explore the potential of new molecules.

What experience does the Associate Scientist need?

• A BSc in Plant Sciences, Biology, Agronomy, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline, with a genuine interest in plant biology — a Master's or relevant industry experience is a plus.
• Hands-on laboratory experience, including working with plant science, genetics, tissue culture, or molecular biology techniques.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to run several experiments concurrently, meet deadlines, and maintain thorough, accurate records.
• A collaborative and proactive approach: someone who communicates openly, listens well, and is comfortable working across a dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment.
