Independent Forgings and Alloys Ltd (IFA) are continuing to invest and grow, and we are looking to add to our Production team. We are now looking for an experienced Blades Finishing Operative.
Over the last few years, we have invested in the business and have successfully doubled our turnover. We are looking to continue this growth and are looking to for the right people to help us join our team.
Main Purpose of the Role
Working throughout the Closed Die Blades Department, you’ll be responsible for the visual inspection, dimensional inspection and potentially where parts may need rectification using hand and other tools. Other finishing processes include linishing and applying finish lubricants and inputting actions into the ERP system.
Main duties of the role include:
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work, co-operate with others in the company to fulfil our statutory duties and not to interfere with or misuse or wilfully damage anything that is provided in the interest of health and safety.
- Daily in-process and final dimensional inspection of forged parts using measuring equipment such as verniers and jigs.
- Collection of parts for inspection and finishing from other locations as required.
- Rectification using various hand tools (hand grinders or burr grinders, pencil grinders) or fixed grinders and linishers.
- Shot blasting forged products or raw material as needed
- Dipping forge products into glass lubricant and stand to dry.
- Spray or paint on Berkatekt coating and stand to dry.
- Booking of jobs on ERP system, acknowledging quality standards and working procedures.
- Liaison with other departments as required to keep the work running smoothly (Forge, Heat Treatment, Maintenance)
Training will be on days, but the actual role will be working rotating shifts.
Your background should include
- General manufacturing process awareness.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Team player with good attention to detail.
- Process focused and compliant.
- Previous experience in FLT driving.
- Previous experience in using OHC.
- Experience in working in an Aerospace Production Environment to AS9100 Standards.
- Brinell Hardness testing experience
- Experience of working with hot metal and ideally with some Heat treatment and forging knowledge.
