CNC Turner – Programmer / Setter / Operator
Company Background
My client is a trusted supplier to leading organisations in the nuclear, defence, oil and gas, fluid, and power generation sectors. They specialise in the manufacture and supply of drive train components, precision valve and pump internals, with particular expertise in precision shafts up to 4 metres in length.
The Role
Due to continued expansion, an experienced CNC Turner – Programmer / Setter / Operator is required to join the large CNC Turning Cell at the Liverpool site.
This is a subcontract machine shop environment, producing one-offs and small batches, giving employees the opportunity to fully utilise and develop their skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating programmes and selecting appropriate tooling
- Machining shafts up to 3.2m in length from various steel grades
- Operating advanced CNC lathes with live tooling and programmable steadies
- Working with C and Y axis machining
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
- Proficient in programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes with Fanuc controls
- Ability to read and work from detailed engineering drawings
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Systems
- Experience machining exotic metals (e.g. Super Duplex, Duplex, 718, X750, Hastelloy, Monel)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Good communication and attention to detail
Desirable Experience
- Doosan lathes (8”–30” chuck sizes, lengths 1m–3.2m)
- Manual Guide programming
- OneCNC programming software
- C and Y axis programming and machining
- Programmable steadies
- Valve and pump component production
- Experience in nuclear, defence, oil and gas, fluid, or power generation sectors
- Proficiency in Office 365 and ERP systems

Location: Liverpool, Merseyside
Salary: £17.26 – £18.45 per hour (OTE £45,000 – £48,000 with overtime)
Hours: 39 hours per week + overtime (subject to availability)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Shift: Single Days – Monday to Thursday 7:30am–4:30pm, Friday 7:30am–12:30pm
