Development Chemist - Cheshire, UK - Personal Care

A long-established and forward-thinking manufacturer within the personal care, pet care, and home fragrance industries is seeking a skilled Formulation Chemist. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is excited by innovation and enjoys creating high-quality, compliant, and sustainable formulations across an extensive product portfolio.

What we're looking for:

  • A degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience in formulation within the personal care, fragrance, or related sectors.

  • Strong awareness of cosmetic regulations, safety standards, and compliance processes.

  • Confident problem-solving abilities and strong project management skills, with experience taking products from initial concept through to launch.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.

What you'll be doing:

  • Developing and formulating personal care items such as shampoos, body washes, lotions, creams, body sprays, as well as pet grooming products and home fragrance ranges including diffusers and room sprays.

  • Carrying out stability, compatibility, and performance testing to confirm product safety and effectiveness.

  • Working closely with marketing, production, and regulatory teams to ensure formulations meet commercial and compliance objectives.

  • Identifying, sourcing, and assessing new raw materials and fragrance ingredients while ensuring they meet quality and sustainability standards.

  • Maintaining clear and accurate formulation data, technical files, and documentation for regulatory purposes.

  • Ensuring all formulations comply with relevant UK/EU cosmetic legislation.

  • Supporting scale-up work and production trials, ensuring seamless progression from laboratory development to manufacturing.

  • Keeping up to date with market developments, new technologies, and ingredient trends to support continuous improvement and innovation.
