Job Title: Distillery Operator (Fixed Term Contract)

Location: Langley Support Site (with flexibility to work at Rugby site as required)

Contract Type: Fixed Term

Reporting to: Team Leader – Distillery Operations

About the Role

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Distillery Operator to join our operations team. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic production environment, ideal for someone who enjoys working with precision, thrives in a team setting, and is committed to delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely carry out daily operations including tanker unloading, blending, filling, and packing of flammable liquids and raw materials.
  • Measure and monitor chemical volumes and quality to ensure consistency and compliance with specifications.
  • Accurately record production data and maintain clear documentation in line with SOPs and regulatory standards.
  • Weigh botanicals for distillation or shipment and ensure packaging is clean, undamaged, and correctly labelled.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and compliant work area, ensuring equipment is serviced and faults are reported promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to audit readiness (BSI, SALSA, BRC, HSE).
  • Operate forklift trucks (if trained) and collaborate with team members across both Langley and Rugby sites as needed.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • GCSEs in Maths & English (or equivalent)
  • Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH)
  • Experience handling hazardous and flammable materials
  • Background in production/distribution, ideally within food & drink manufacturing

Desirable

  • Forklift licence
  • ATEX/DSEAR Regulations training
  • WSTA Level 1 or equivalent
  • Experience with automated process systems or IT-based stock control

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong numeracy skills – confident with measurements, calculations, and chemical monitoring.
  • Excellent documentation skills – able to maintain accurate records and follow SOPs precisely.
  • Safety First mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Team player with a proactive and flexible approach.
  • Effective communicator with good IT and organisational skills.
  • Customer-focused, committed to delivering high-quality products.
  • Calm under pressure and able to prioritise effectively.
