About The Role
Job Summary:
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and curious individual to begin a rewarding career in engineering and construction — earning while learning through a Graduate Apprenticeship with Heriot-Watt University.
Key Responsibilities:
Join our Graduate Apprenticeship programme while studying for your BEng (Hons) in Engineering: Design & Manufacture at Heriot-Watt University. You will be based in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office and can specialise in either mechanical or electrical engineering.
This is a blended learning opportunity combining vocational training with occasional day release. The role is office-based and focused on low carbon building services engineering design, with regular site visits to live construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and use engineering design software
- Review and check technical drawings
- Attend internal design review meetings
- Shadow qualified engineers on live projects
- Join engineers on client site visits and meetings
- Assist with calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Support general office activities such as document management
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
- SQA Highers: BBBB including Mathematics, English, and one of Engineering Science, Physics, or Technological Studies
- National 5 English at grade C or above (if not held at Higher)

- Confidence with numbers and technical measurements
- Organised and methodical approach
- Strong time management and reliability
