Grounds Maintenance Worker
- Location: Tameside Council
- Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (4 months)
- Pay Rate: £12.60 per hour (PAYE)
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 16.30pm
Tameside Council are looking for two Grounds Maintenance Operatives for Parks / Open Space Maintenance. This role is ideal for individuals who are physically fit and enjoy working outdoors. Experience with ride-on mowers or holding a PA 1&6 Weed Spraying Certificate will be advantageous.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Perform football pitch maintenance, including renovation and inspections.
- Conduct litter picking primarily within horticultural/shrubbery areas, and surrounding areas as needed.
- Empty litter bins in designated and adjacent areas.
- Engage in grass cutting, graffiti removal, and hedge trimming, including cutting back obstructive vegetation.
- Carry out strimming, animal husbandry, and maintenance of bowling greens.
- Inspect, repair, and clean play areas and similar facilities.
- Handle the removal and erection of goal posts.
- Plant shrubs and manage floral displays.
- Perform chemical and weed spraying.
- Assist in staging various events.
- Operate powered mechanical equipment such as ride-on mowers, hand mowers, and blowers.
- Use small hand tools for a variety of maintenance tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Physical fitness and ability to perform labor-intensive tasks.
- Experience with ride-on mowers or a PA 1&6 Weed Spraying Certificate is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-skilled operational team.
- Initiative and commitment to delivering high-quality services.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
