Are you a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for science? We're seeking a Lab Technician to join Filtrox Carlson Ltd., where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the quality of our cutting-edge filter media products.

FILTROX Carlson Ltd has its origins in 1923 – established as Carlson Ltd by John C Carlson - and has been located in Barnoldswick since 1950. Since 1988, we have been part of the FILTROX Group, headquartered in Switzerland, with a global workforce of approximately 280 employees.

We are experts in depth filtration of valuable liquids and have built a strong position in the global market for filter equipment and filter media. From the whisk(e)y, wine and brewing industries to the clarification of fruit juices and filtration in the pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries, we develop, produce and distribute a wide range of products for all applications. Operating from our facility in Barnoldswick, we supply our products not only across the UK but also over 130 countries through an extensive network of agents and dealers.

The Role

As a Lab Technician, you’ll perform essential tests and checks to ensure the highest quality of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform postproduction testing, including trace metals and pore size analysis
  • Record and maintain data on plant sheets for product release
  • Prepare and manage retained samples, system organisation, and storage
  • Conduct approval sample testing for selected customers
  • Carry out routine calibrations of testing equipment
  • Analyse complaints by testing returned samples and reviewing original results
  • Test and release raw materials, recording data as needed
  • Support production with grade adjustment reviews and QC testing
  • Maintain the 5S system for the Technical Department
  • Assist the sales team by testing competitor samples and preparing customer trials
  • Conduct life tests and process measurements
  • Produce lab-scale filter media for machine trials
  • Monitor and maintain test equipment and consumable stock levels
  • Ensure high housekeeping standards in the lab

  • A background in science and maths, or a degree in a related field
  • Previous experience as a lab technician is advantageous
  • Proficient in IT
