Our client is a well-established coatings and corrosion protection company based in Southeast London. They are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Laboratory Assistant to support the Quality Manager in maintaining product quality, ensuring compliance with company standards and supporting quality control processes.

Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, the Laboratory Assistant is responsible for:

1. Inspection and testing of raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, goods returned, bought-in products and packaged manufactured products & accurately record corresponding laboratory data.

2. Inspection of plant conditions and products during the production run. Issuing and recording inspection data on the Daily Inspection Sheets regularly during the production run.

3. Advising the Production Operators of any non-conformity and recording corrective action.

4. Recommending any necessary adjustments to intermediates and products to bring them to specification and reporting of corresponding action taken. Approval of intermediates and products.

5. Registration, recording and investigation of non-conformance of raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, goods returned, bought-in products and packaged manufactured products.

6. Ensuring non-conforming or suspect material is identified, promptly segregated and the Quality Manager is informed in good time to enable corrective action to be effective.

7. Issuing Batch Mixing Sheets to production department, if requested.

8. Preparation and issue of Test Certificates for products.

9. Calibration and maintenance of calibration records for laboratory equipment.

10. Investigating customer complaints and submit detailed reports to the Quality Manager.

11. Assisting with the implementation, maintenance and timely revision of SOPs and other controlled documents within the Quality Management System.

12. Assisting in the performance of internal audits, providing support in the preparation and coordination of inspections and audits by both regulatory authorities, clients and third parties.

13. Assisting the Quality Manager on the various aspects of QC/QA administration.

14. Work closely and collaboratively with the Production team, to ensure smooth running of daily operations.

15. General laboratory administrative duties including carrying out laboratory stock take of consumables, notify, and order replacements, to ensure there are always adequate supplies available to meet work requirements.

16. Following Quality and Environmental Management system procedures.

17. Good housekeeping within the laboratory environment. Carry out duties

in an organized and presentable manner, especially when under pressure.

18. Any other duties as directed may arise from time-to-time.
