Laboratory Shift Technician – Metals Manufacturing
Aston, Birmingham
£34,500 + Shift Allowance
Rotating Shifts (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm / 10pm–6am)
Are you an experienced Laboratory Technician with a background in metals, foundry, steel, aluminium, copper, brass, or industrial manufacturing?
We are seeking a Laboratory Shift Technician to join a well-established manufacturing operation, supporting quality assurance, materials testing, and process control within a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical and metallurgical testing including hardness, tensile, bend and grain size analysis
Spectrographic chemical analysis and verification of material composition
Inspection and testing of incoming raw materials and scrap
Calibration and verification of laboratory equipment
Monitoring and analysis of process solutions, acids and treatment tanks
Preparation of Certificates of Conformity and quality documentation
Macro and microstructural examination of metal products
What We're Looking For:
Laboratory, quality control, or metallurgical testing experience within a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of mechanical and chemical testing methods
Experience working with metal products, alloys, castings, extrusions or engineered materials
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Additional Responsibility:
The successful candidate will occasionally provide operational cover during nights and weekends, ensuring production, quality, safety and staffing requirements are maintained.
