KEY RESPONSIBILITIES for a Mobile Kitchen Cleaning Operative
Core Cleaning Duties
- Deep Cleaning of Kitchen Surfaces: Perform thorough cleaning and sanitisation of all kitchen floors, walls, ceilings, work surfaces, to meet Food Hygiene Regulations 2006 and Food Safety Act 1990 standards
- Floor Maintenance: Sweep, mop, scrub, and sanitise kitchen floors using industrial-grade cleaning equipment, removing grease, food debris, and ensuring slip-hazard prevention
- Wall and Ceiling Cleaning: Clean and degrease walls and ceilings, including high-level surfaces, removing condensation, mould, and accumulated grease
Health and Safety Compliance
- COSHH Compliance: Safely handle, store, and use cleaning chemicals in accordance with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards and unsafe conditions, reporting issues immediately to management
- Personal Protective Equipment: Wear appropriate PPE including gloves, protective footwear, and clothing as required for each task
- Safe Working Practices: Follow all health and safety guidelines, including manual handling procedures and working at height regulations
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities for compliance purposes
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
- Cleaning Equipment: Operate industrial cleaning equipment including scrubber-dryers, pressure washers, vacuum cleaners.
- Ladder Work: Safely erect, climb, and work from ladders and stepladders to access high-level surfaces (training provided)
- Equipment Care: Clean, maintain, and properly store all cleaning equipment after use, reporting any faults or defects
- Tool Management: Carry and transport cleaning equipment, including ladders, between sites and storage areas
Mobile and Multi-Site Operations
- Travel Between Sites: Drive to locations daily as per pre-arranged schedule.
- Vehicle Management: Maintain company vehicle in clean, safe condition and report any mechanical issues
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Licences
- Full UK Driving Licence: Valid driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points (essential due to mobile nature of role)
- COSHH Training: Must complete COSHH awareness training for cleaners (can be provided upon employment)
- Food Safety Awareness: Understanding of food hygiene principles (training provided)
- Working at Height Training: Completion of ladder safety and working at height training (provided)
- Manual Handling Training: Certification in safe lifting and manual handling techniques (provided)
Physical Capabilities for a Mobile Kitchen Cleaning Operative
- Physical Fitness: Capable of sustained manual work including lifting equipment up to 25kg
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Commercial Cleaning Experience: Previous experience in commercial kitchen cleaning, industrial cleaning, or similar environments
