In this role, you’ll be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of water treatment processes and assets, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, safe drinking water to customers. Working in a regulated, quality-controlled environment, you’ll use technical knowledge and data insights to optimise treatment performance and maintain compliance with internal and external standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse data to optimise chemical usage and improve process efficiency.
  • Work closely with the Regional Control Centre to manage site flows, pumping, and storage in line with production plans.
  • Complete routine site activities including validation, calibration, preventative maintenance, and inspections.
  • Escalate non-routine issues such as equipment failures, non-compliance, or environmental incidents.

  • Handle chemicals, gases, and hazardous materials in line with safe working procedures.
  • Follow lock-off and tag-off safety processes.
  • Maintain accurate site documentation including logs, calibration data, stock levels, lab results, and health & safety records.
  • Monitor and manage chemical inventory to ensure continuous supply.

About You

  • Previous experience in process operations is desirable but not essential, ideally within water treatment or a similar environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational data.
  • Committed to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexible to work shift patterns and respond to operational needs.

Why Join Northumbrian Water? Northumbrian Water is known for its supportive culture, strong safety standards, and commitment to quality. You’ll benefit from training and development opportunities, a collaborative team environment, and the chance to contribute to an essential public service—delivering safe, reliable water to local communities.
