Your new company
I'm currently working with a large secondary school based in Runcorn who are looking for a Science Technician to join their team on a full-time basis.
Your new role
This role is all year round; hours are Monday-Friday 8.30-4.
The teaching of the sciences is a key consideration to this school, so you will be joining a hard-working and high-achieving team who strive to push the quality of teaching and learning available as much as possible.
Day to day this job will involve:
- Checking and providing the appropriate apparatus/ equipment to meet teaching requirements, including mixing of chemical solutions
- Maintaining laboratories, preparation rooms and chemical stores according to Health and Safety Regulations
- Supporting with stock checks and ordering of new materials when required
- Identifying faults on equipment and apparatus and carrying out repairs where possible
- Providing practical support and guidance for school staff in the use of materials, laboratory techniques, practices and processes and recommending solutions to technical problems encountered
- You may also be required to assist with practical demonstrations during lessons from time to time
- Undertaking and assisting with science department administration and paperwork for lesson preparations, examinations etc.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this post you will need:
- Qualification in one of the 3 sciences
- Experience of working in a laboratory environment
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- Practical skills including the ability to set up experiments and maintain equipment effectively
This post will also require an enhanced DBS check to be carried out.
