Science Technician – Secondary School
Location: Secondary School, near Rhyl
Contract: Long-term position
Hours: Full-time, 5 days per week
Pay: Competitive rates, in line with experience
We are seeking an experienced Science Technician to provide practical and technical support to the Science Department within a busy secondary school. This is a long-term, full-time role, ideal for a knowledgeable technician who is confident supporting lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing equipment, materials, and chemicals ready for class in line with lesson requirements
- Safely handling, storing, and disposing of chemicals in accordance with COSHH and school policies
- Setting up and clearing down laboratories before and after practical lessons
- Supporting teaching staff during practical experiments when required
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring stock levels are monitored and replenished
- Carrying out routine checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance of apparatus
- Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed at all times
- Keeping accurate records of chemicals, equipment, and safety documentation
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Science Technician (or similar role) in a school or laboratory setting
- Strong knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures
- Confidence preparing chemicals and practical resources for secondary-level science lessons
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience supporting KS3 and KS4 science lessons
- Relevant science or laboratory qualification
- Familiarity with school-based science departments
