Hays Education is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Science Technician to join a busy secondary school in Middlesbrough on a full-time, temporary basis for approximately 4-5 weeks, with an immediate start.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing, setting up and clearing away equipment, materials and specimens for practical lessons
• Supporting teaching staff with the safe delivery of experiments and demonstrations
• Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring it is in good working order
• Managing stock levels and ordering supplies as required
• Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and COSHH regulations
• Safely handling, storing and disposing of chemicals and hazardous materials

About You

• Previous experience as a Science Technician (school setting preferred)
• A relevant science qualification or background is desirable
• Strong organisational skills and a methodical, safety-conscious approach
• Knowledge of health and safety and COSHH procedures within a laboratory environment
• Reliable, proactive and able to work as part of a team

Essential Requirement
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is essential for this role.
