JOB TITLE: Synthetic Chemist
LOCATION: Cambridge
SALARY: £35,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)
WAY OF WORKING: Full Time | Office-based | Permanent

THE SYNTHETIC CHEMIST OPPORTUNITY:
- Lead the design and execution of advanced synthetic organic chemistry projects from initial concept through to final delivery.
- Develop, optimize, and scale up synthesis protocols for proprietary organic electrolyte materials.
- Drive structural modification and improvement of electrolytes in collaboration with battery researchers, integrating insights from electrochemical and performance testing.
- Prepare and supply high-quality materials for electrochemical evaluation and battery trials.
- Analyze experimental data to refine scale-up strategies and optimize electrolyte formulations.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers to translate chemical innovations into product solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of experiments, methodologies, and results.
- Uphold rigorous laboratory safety practices and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Monitor emerging research and technological developments, applying relevant advances to ongoing projects.
YOUR KEY SKILLS:
- PhD in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
- At least 4 years of research experience, including doctoral research.
- Proven hands-on expertise in organic synthesis, with a focus on developing efficient and scalable synthetic routes.
- Strong foundation in synthetic organic chemistry and reaction design.
- Proficiency in using laboratory and data analysis software for chemical research.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for data processing and analysis is a plus.
- Background in electrochemistry or electronic materials is highly desirable.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of designing and conducting complex experiments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, particularly in interdisciplinary research settings.
- Self-driven, well-organized, and capable of effectively managing multiple concurrent projects.
