Full Job Description

Position: Technician/Laboratory Assistant

Salary: £25,495

Hours: 40 hours per week, full-time, permanent position, over-time possible.

Location: St Albans, AL2

Role: Our client requires a Technician/Laboratory to assist in a small Laboratory.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sample preparation
  • Chemical analysis such as titrations, gravimetric analyses, use of ion electrodes and spectroscopy. (Training will be given on the method and techniques required).
  • Preparation of reagents, standards and glassware and cleaning of glassware.
  • Data input, booking in samples and general administration of samples.
  • Ensuring all safety and quality standards are met.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A scientific background, an interest in materials testing and a GCSE in Physics or Chemistry or Science.
  • Able to work accurately, using systematic methods.
  • Having a good level of concentration and attention to detail is necessary as all parts of the works are to follow the quality system with regular calibrations, duplicate samples and analysis of quality control standards.
  • Previous relevant experience in a similar role
  • Highly motivated and organised
  • Ability to work independently, in an orderly manner, and adhere to deadlines.
