Trainee Workshop Engineer
Production / Assembly Operative – No Experience Required
Location: Reading
Employment Type: Temporary to Permanent
Salary: £12.21ph
Working Hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 07:30 – 16:00
- Friday: 07:30 – 13:30
The Role
Our client is looking for a motivated Trainee Workshop Engineer to join their manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with no prior experience who is eager to learn a skilled, hands-on role within a growing manufacturing environment.
You will rotate across multiple shop-floor departments, receiving full training and gaining practical experience in production, assembly, testing, and machine operation.
Key Responsibilities
You will be trained to work across all shop-floor departments, including:
- Assembly
- Surface Mount Technology (SMT)
- Testing
- PCB
- Chemical department
- Machine operation
Your duties will include:
- Operating and maintaining SMT and production equipment
- Following detailed assembly instructions and technical processes
- Carrying out quality checks and assisting with fault finding
- Adhering to health & safety procedures and company standards
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised working environment
Training & Development
- No experience required
- Full training provided across all departments
- Ideal role for someone looking to build long-term technical and engineering skills
Candidate Requirements
- Positive attitude and strong willingness to learn
- Good work ethic, reliability, and timekeeping
- Comfortable in a hands-on, shop-floor environment (can be cold and occasionally dirty)
- Adaptable and keen to develop new skills
- Able to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
