Purpose of the Role

The purpose of the role is to work as part of a team in ensuring the Monks Cross is presented in a safe and clean manner at all times, to the client, occupiers and visitors. You are responsible for the day to day cleaning of specifically agreed areas to the required standards.

You will have the ability to work both individually and within a team. You will be capable of carrying out your duties without constant supervision and be proactive in ensuring your area of responsibility meets the highest possible standards of cleanliness and safety.

During your daily duties, you will be acting as an ambassador for the Monks Cross, delivering a ‘World Class’ service and adhering to the brand values of the client and SMR.

Areas of the Monks Cross that you will encounter as part of your duties:

  • Front of house areas
    • Open spaces and publicly accessible areas/facilities
    • Public & Clients washrooms / changing facilities
    • External entrance areas & surrounding external areas
  • Back of house areas
    • Service Yards
    • Car Parks
  • Internal Spaces & Areas
  • All communal areas across all levels
  • Associated / Management offices
  • Toilets & Washrooms

Key Responsibilities

  • Working to a cleaning schedule in keeping all areas of the Monks Cross, clean and to high standards
  • Conforming to all ‘Standard Operating Procedures’ (SOPs) in relation to environmental and cleaning practices
  • Reactively supporting in effective control of spillages, when reported
  • Undertake training pertaining to your role, in addition to other training as required for the Monks Cross.
  • Adhering to all Health & Safety requirements, keeping yourself and others safe at all times
  • Use of various machines in accordance with requirements including scrubber dryers, rotary scrubber, pressure washers, vacuum cleaning machines etc. (when trained)
  • To ensure that all waste is dealt with appropriately, emptying and cleaning bins when necessary. (Bins can weigh up to 3 kilos)
  • Ensure the safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps as per policy
  • To communicate and liaise with team leaders and colleagues to ensure a smooth running of the department
  • To maintain all of the sanitary areas to the required standard, replenishing supplies as required.
  • To report any maintenance defects relating to the Monks Cross and its fixtures and fittings
  • Cleaning of all public accessible areas
  • Sweeping, mopping and cleaning floors (both inside and outside)
  • Cleaning public and staff toilets (both male and female)
  • Cleaning low level windows and glass in communal parts
  • Cleaning walls (including pillars) and signage (both internal and external)
  • Cleaning of staff rooms, facilities, offices, control room and kitchens and where appropriate external entrances, perimeters and walkways including gardening areas
  • Cleaning corridors and back of house areas
  • Waste; sorting into appropriate containers, removing cardboard and other items for recycling.
  • Completing daily forms to support work carried out
  • Compliance with all work-related health and safety regulations at all times
  • Any other reasonable task requested by a member of the supervisory/management team
  • Be aware of your responsibilities and adhere to all SMR and centre safety guidelines including wearing of all personal protective equipment
  • Undertake any further duties as requested by any member of the supervision / management team
  • Have pride in the Monks Cross; ensuring that you deliver consistently high standards of customer service at all times, thereby promoting a professional and welcoming atmosphere

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Candidates are required to have the following:

Essential

  • Experience in the provision of cleaning services in a busy environment visited by members of the public
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, storage and methods aligned to COSHH policies and procedures
  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning
  • Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of customer service
  • Ability to work on own initiative and deal with demanding situations
  • A work ethic comprising of honesty and dedication
  • Smart and professional presentation
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work in external environments
  • Willingness to partake in further on-site training
  • Flexible working approach to work patterns

Desirable

  • Cleaning related qualification such as BICSc
  • Basic Knowledge of H&S legislation

Working Hours - 30hrs a week

Salary - £12.50/ph
