Qualification Requirements

You will need to have or are expecting to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs or the equivalent at Grades A*-C (9-4) plus

A Level, T Level, BTEC or equivalent with a preference in courses related to the sciences/ mathematics Is preferred.

Job Description
The Engineering Maintenance Technician - Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Apprentice will provide mechanical and electrical maintenance skills to support manufacturing and development activities within a pharmaceutical environment.
This will include execution of preventative maintenance for equipment, responding to breakdowns, and associated problem solving. The role will also be responsible for identifying / implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Responsibilities

Work on a variety of plant and equipment within different functions across the manufacturing site to include:

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance

Responding to plant and equipment breakdowns
-
Fault diagnosis/ problem solving and rectification of mechanical/ electrical problems. Working collaboratively with other functions to problem solve

Involved in operational excellence (OE) continuous improvement initiatives
-
Issue and comply with equipment, department, and maintenance schedules. Use of CMMS (computerized maintenance system) to execute and complete work orders. In order to achieve the high standards required, documented maintenance and calibration is an integral part of the daily routine.

As part of a team, take part in equipment qualification activities (commissioning, IQ, OQ, FAT, SAT).

Create procedures (SOPs), internal service reports and machine setting sheets for new equipment and update existing as required.

Carry out maintenance and spares reviews for new capital projects.

Updates and trains in required risk assessments

Carries out their work in a way that will not adversely affect their own, or others health and safety and security or the environment and reports any issues including near misses and accidents

Compliance in all aspects of GMP, health and safety and environmental standards. Quality is a primary focus to ensure that patients receive a safe, effective and quality assured product.

Support investigations (safety and quality) as required by providing SME input.

Training To Be Delivered
Qualifications to be delivered: Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (BTEC)
Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Maintenance (NVQ)
Apprenticeship Standard: Engineering maintenance technician – dual discipline
Training Provider: IPS International
Delivery model: Delivery will be completed through day release in Rochester

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be eligible to apply for other positions within the business.
This role is part of our talent planning for the future, and for the right person we are looking to continue to develop the apprentice upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
